He tried the serious rap game and ultimately clearly had more fun and success discovering the comedic side of things. Yeah, I just meant because I thought he would be good at it. Especially if he somehow managed to slowly get more and more serious, while throwing in a lighter touch here and there. Again, with Same Old Kid, you could hear this transformation starting to happen.
I agree, Same Old Kid was such a great example of consciously crafting a slightly new sound and voice.
And it hits a perfect tone of a little more serious during the name transition but still staying funny. Froggy Fresh in general has a slightly different vibe than Krispy Kreme to me without becoming a wholly new character, and that's impressive.

I'm personally not a huge rap fan and love the mix of music and comedy Tyler crafted, so I'm a bit biased. I wouldn't be terribly interested in a serious effort, but if he wanted to he certainly has the chops. The entire world he created is pretty amazing. Wish he would keep doing them, so it sucks to hear it isn't as fun for him anymore. Well now I have to go through and rewatch all of his FF videos again, will be an interesting rewatch in context with this video.

Makes you realize that there are real ambitions and sacrifices behind these videos that we keep rewatching. The character was always so upbeat and dynamic, it's a little hard to watch him being so subdued and straight-faced.

I can understand where he's coming from feeling discouraged and burnt out with his project and not knowing where to go now but it was pretty sad to hear that's how he feels.
I'm sure many of his friends working full time feel like they're bored and wasting their lives in comparison to his success with Froggy Fresh. Good for him, for soul searching to figure out who he is and what direction he wants to go with his life, and not being afraid to walk away from all of his hard work in order to change and grow.
